“Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task.” ~William James
Study coaching aims to support people to overcome study blocks, barriers and challenges by helping them acquire the tools and develop the skills needed to approach their work with competence and confidence.
Who study coaching can benefit
Study coaching can be beneficial for anyone engaged in secondary, tertiary or post-graduate study. Tools and support are particularly aimed at those who find to face their work and get it done (avoiders), get their work done on time, are behind on their work, or experience high anxiety when faced with the thought of approaching their work. Un-stuck coaching also has a particular interest in working with international students who are struggling to understand and write in the English language.
What kind of things can it help me with?
- Overcoming procrastination
- Challenging perfectionism
- Setting achievable goals
- Planning projects
- Learning how to use time effectively
- Avoiding that mad dash to have things finished on the due date
- Understanding and writing at a tertiary level in English
- Developing research skills
How it is different from tutoring
Study coaching is not generally subject of assignment specific, but works to help clients acquire the tools and develop the skills to be able to plan their work, approach it with less anxiety, and to structure their time and study habits to get work completed, and completed on time.
